Instructional Approach Assignment - Cooperative Learning
In ECS 303, we researched and became familiar with multiple instructional strategies that can be used within the classroom. We were split into groups and each group was given a different strategy to create a presentation on for the class. My group was given the approach cooperative learning, which is a strategy that involves breaking the students up into small groups and allowing them to discover new concepts together and help each other learn.
To demonstrate this strategy to the class, we played a story for the class called "The Legend of the Northern Lights" by Adam Smith. After listening to the story as a group, we split our class up into smaller groups and asked them the question "How would you use this story to incorporate cooperative learning into the classroom?". Our peers needed to create activities for the classroom that incorporated the story as well as cooperative learning.
